Melaleuca quinquenervia also known as broad leaved paper bark or niaouli belongs to myrtaceae family. It grows up to 20 mt. in height, its leaves are grey green in color and oval in shape and flowers are cream or white in color and they bloom in spring or late autumn they are followed by small woody seed pods which contain many tiny seeds which are released annually.

Leaves are very aromatic and Niaouli oil is obtained by steam distillation of fresh leaves & twigs. Niaouli oil is also called Gomenol.
